Why do progressives hate those who are successful?

Even though they complain about it, the progressives actually like having more than 50% of the population in poverty and on government assistance. They just play the class warfare card to get out the votes. They need the votes of the people they have made poor to stay in power. So long as they are in power, the poor will have little chance of improvement.
