Even if god is real why should I worship him? He gave me free will so why can't I just go do my own thing?

What makes god so special that he gets to rule the universe in the first place. What if some people don't want to do what he says? Then they get punished right? With no inherent authority that makes god a bully??? So if you believe in god you have to believe in inherent authority. So where did this authority come from? There would have to be a higher power than god and along that line we come to the infinite line of gods theory which is just as redundant as asking which came first the chicken or the egg. Why not admit the universe has no logical order.
