No your comment wasn't awful at all. I agree with you. When it comes to YT comments, I've found people either take things waaaayyyyy too seriously or aren't serious at all, and most of the time are just wanting to be argumentative. Honestly, just blow them off. Like the person above said most of them are morons. They really are.
